Photobucket Photobucket Therapy dogs spread happiness, love, and cheer to people who otherwise might be lonely, sad or slow to heal. This is the journey of Cayman, a longhair miniature dachshund and his journey and experiences visiting becoming a therapy dog.

Did you know that pet visits often spark good memories of a person's own pets? Dogs often can reach people and children who have withdrawn from the world. It's been suggested by science that petting a dog can lower blood pressure, reduce anxiety and stress, and promote healing.

What's In a Name?

Nils and I have finally decided on a name. It had been the topic of conversation for forever now. Like new parents, we kept throwing around names but for reason, I kept coming back to the name “Cayman”, like the Cayman Islands. I don’t know why that name seems to stick in my brain, but Nils likes it to so Cayman it is.

Here is a picture of the choosen litter- Cayman is the darker cream colored pup on the left. He is one day old in this picture (taken April 20th, 2008).

Here is a picture of the dam, or mother, Brindalee from Gentry's Celtic Kennels in Duette, FL.

And here is the sire, or father, Rocky from Crystal's Dachshund Crossing in Englewood, FL.
